h1. Peer types

Server with *Streamco Softswitch* installed on it can be viewed as a black box, that has some inbound entries and outbound exits. And peers are connected to this entries and exits. 

There can be 3 peer types: 

* _Originator. Originator_ is able to send calls to the *Smartswitch* box. It's an inbound peer type. 

* _Terminators. Terminator_ is able to receive calls from the *Smartswitch* box. It's an outbound peer type.

* _User. User_ is able both to send calls and to receive them. It's a mixed peer type. 

So, if the call incomes from originator, it can be routed to the terminator or to user. If the call incomes from user, it can be routed to terminator or to other end user. If the call is routed to user, this is called DID (Direct Inward Dialling) routing.
