High-availability through DNS SRV¶
This scheme is useful for those, who wants to provide high-available services to customers.
High-availability is achieved by settings the order of choosing the server in DNS SRV records of your DNS zone.
Customers should support DNS SRV lookup for this scheme and perform this lookup before each outbound call.
To connect, you give your customers not IP address but a DNS name.
Requirements¶
- node count: 2+
- IP addresses, required from data center = node count
- your customers should support DNS SRV lookup.
Limitations¶
- not all equipment supports DNS SRV lookup (however many does, for example Asterisk).
Therefore, you won't be providing high-available services to those customers which doesn't support this feature.
